Finding My Ground in Okinawa: Growth Mindset, Accountability, and Support
I didn’t know how I would feel moving 6,300 miles away from “home.” I knew that my support system would be shaken, but I also know that I have the 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴.
I make sure I meet regularly with my mentor, counselor, coach, accountability partner, and massage therapist, and of course, reaching out to my family and long-distance friends. Yes, sometimes, I wish they would reach out more instead of my being the one to initiate.
Being rooted in Okinawa now since last year, I’m constantly learning new things about myself and others. Having a 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵 helps me to reframe and be resilient. Life is one lesson after another. We can learn from each other, pets, kids or even someone you don’t really vibe with.
Last week at my retreat, I learned that 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘺, and I had every participant share one practical goal, using my 5Ms framework, that they are committed to implementing this month.
The day after my retreat, I learned that one participant, who was dealing with insomnia, was able to meditate and fall back to sleep at 2am instead of scrolling on the phone.

Curious about coaching? I have space to support 2 more clients this year. Let’s connect with a free clarity call.
65 days left until the new year. Let’s end 2025 with more peace, clarity and joy.
